Finals Girls by Riley Sager (2017)

A twisty and engaging thriller with a wild ending.
Laura’s Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
Plot: Quincy Carpenter is a final girl. The only one left standing after all of her friends were massacred at the now infamous Pine Cottage. 10 years later, Quincy is doing her best to deal with the trauma of that night and the fact that she still has no memory of most of it. When a fellow final girl is found dead and another shows up at her doorstep, Quincy must decide if she can trust anyone - including herself.
Analysis: This book gripped my interest and made me want to keep reading, although it was a tad repetitive at times. I’ve read 3 Riley Sager books now and they usually start slower and get crazy towards the end. This was definitely similar, but I felt like the middle could have been edited down a bit.
Generally, I don’t love amnesia as a plot device, but since the memory loss was about a specific, isolated event in the past rather than a total lack of memory in the present, it worked and felt believable.
Final Girls had a solid, unexpected ending. Things were wrapped up pretty satisfyingly, with no major loose ends. I’d recommend this for thriller readers.
