Hellraiser (1987)

A gory horror flick with a disjointed plot.
Laura’s Rating: 1/5 Stars
Plot: A man opens a mysterious box, summoning the Cenobites. These creatures take him to a place where pain and pleasure are “indivisible”. In a state of near death, he must get someone to provide victims that help him regenerate. He looks to his brother Larry and his wife Julia.
Analysis: It’s so bad. It’s kind of gross and gory. It’s not super realistic, but I still wouldn’t recommend the movie for those squeamish to blood and body horrors.
The least believable part is that the main couple move in and are living in the nasty run down house. Separate from the literal evil lurking in the halls, there’s absolutely mold, asbestos, and who knows what else in there.
I also have no idea why Larry married Julia since she is cool and distant to him, his friends, and his daughter. None of the characters act how real people would respond to these situations and feel incredibly flat.
Pinhead, one of the Cenobites, is the iconic thing from this movie and is barely in it. Terrible movie, I don’t recommend Hellrasier.
