My Year in Books 2025- Best and Worst

My goal was to read 60 books this year and I (just) made it! I did set my goal before I knew I’d be starting a masters program this year, so I feel pretty good about getting as much reading done as I did.

Here are my top 5 and bottom 5 books that I read this year:

Best Books of 2025:

Similar to 2024, I didn’t have any 5 star reads this year. So I’m open to suggestions for an awesome book to start in the new year! I did really enjoy all the books on my list though and would recommend them.

Worst Books of 2025:

  1. What Moves the Dead (1/5 Stars)

  2. The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires (1.5 Stars)

  3. The Hole (2 Stars)

  4. The Mechanics of Memory (2 Stars)

  5. Weyward (2 Stars)

I’ll be posting a review for What Moves the Dead soon, but it was an unnecessary retelling of a classic. The second book on the list made me remove the other books by Grady Hendrix off my to-read list... The others just bored me or fell rather short of my expectations.

Thanks to Goodreads for helping me track my reading. I can’t wait to start on my goal for 2026!
