The Crescent Moon Tearoom by Stacy Sivinski (2014)

A whimsical tale of magic, fate, and sisterhood.

Laura’s Rating: 3.5/5 Stars

Plot: Three sisters with magical powers run a tea room where they read fortunes in the tea leaves for their loyal customers. Their days of shortbread, teacups, and cinnamon are disrupted when the Council of Witches come calling with a task. It seems a curse is working to separate the sisters, but can complete their magical errands and bargain with Fate to change the future?

Opinion: This book is absolutely delightful. It was the perfect light and easy read and made me smile. I liked reading about witches in Chicago rather than 1600s Salem or some magical realm. It grounded the story and made the mysticism feel special without it feeling like high fantasy or becoming the focus of the story. The focus is really on the Quigley sisters, who are each unique and well defined as characters.

Sure, The Crescent Room Tearoom is nothing earth shattering, but it excels at what it’s trying to be. I think this book would resonate with someone looking for meaning or struggling to find their path. I liked the tone and the message of the book and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a light and fun book.
