Plot: Cork O’Connor and his son Stephen start to investigate a plane crash on Desolation Mountain. As first responders and witnesses go missing and more government and law enforcement agencies get involved, it seems like the crash is more than just a simple accident.

Opinion: The cast of characters and the Native American reservation setting are vaguely interesting. It feels like a mass produced crime novel (this is #17 in a series)- think James Patterson or David Baldacci. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, just a particular kind of vibe to the characters and story.

I might have felt more connected with the characters if I had read the previous novels, but this works alright as a standalone story. I found Desolation Mountain decently engaging but pretty average overall.
