Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)

Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)

Laura’s Rating: 3/5 Stars

The latest installment in the Jurassic Park series brings the gang back together, merging the casts from the original film and some of the sequels. I got to see this movie at the drive-in and enjoyed the perfect summer weather.

The Analysis:

Years after the Lockwood Estate incident and a volcanic eruption, dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals are wreaking havoc on the earth. Giant locusts are wiping out crops across the world and Dr. Ellie Satler and Dr. Alan Grant reunite to investigate. Claire Dearing and Owen Grady are attempting to live a quiet existence until their lives are thrown into chaos leading them to a dinosaur reserve run by a company known as Biosyn Genetics, the new employer of Dr. Ian Malcolm.

The movie started with some good action sequences and at first, there weren’t many dinosaurs. Even as the film progressed, there was less dino action than I would have liked until near the end. While there was a plot, it was rather loose by the end, with a few too many moving parts to tie everything together cleanly The film functioned as a way to get the characters back together and the ensemble cast worked well with one another. Unfortunately, they all had to share the same 146 minutes, making it feel like none of the characters really got a ton of screen time.

To be honest, this film was a bit forgettable. It was entertaining enough to watch but nothing really stuck out to me. I watched the film less than a month ago, and already the details are a bit fuzzy and there’s no truly memorable scenes in my opinion. I do enjoy this franchise and the film isn’t bad for people looking for more Jurassic Park content but it’s nothing special.
